Policy Recommendations of the Berlin Round Table on Cultural Education (BeRuTiKuBi) in the Context of Schools and Early Childhood Education Published

Since autumn 2024, representatives of Berlin’s cultural education programmes, as well as stakeholders from schools and early childhood education centres, academia, and civil society, have been working together in dialogue with policymakers and public administration within the Berlin Round Table on Cultural Education in the Context of Schools and Early Childhood Education (BeRuTiKuBi).

The jointly developed policy recommendations have now been published. They outline concrete steps to secure and further develop cultural education as an integral part of quality education in Berlin.

Each of the 28 recommendations summarises in a single concise sentence what needs to be done now. The recommendations are complemented by in-depth background texts and objectives and illustrated with humorous, pointed drawings.

The recommendations make one thing clear: cultural education is not a “nice-to-have”, but a fundamental prerequisite for educational equity and future readiness. It opens up spaces for children and young people in which cooperation, creativity, critical thinking, and communication are practised—skills they need to actively shape both the present and the future.
